Eating & Training With Your Menstrual Cycle

Apr 08, 2026

What’s up NC fam,

Your menstrual cycle isn’t just about your period.

Across the month, your hormones shift through ~4 different phases and those shifts may directly impact how you feel, train, and recover.

You may experience shifts in:

  • Energy levels

  • Strength and performance

  • Hunger and cravings

  • Recovery ability

  • Sleep and HRV

  • Body temperature

  • Mood and body image

Understanding this gives you an advantage and you can start working with it.

Eating and Training During Each Phase (And What They May Feel Like)

Most cycles fall somewhere between 26–32 days (with normal variation).

What you might feel:

  • Lower energy

  • Increased fatigue

  • Cramps or inflammation

  • Less motivation for intense workouts
